WEATHERMEN
Two men, either side of the Atlantic. One passion.
Dave Mutton is from Leicestershire; he’s recorded the weather every day for the last 50 years. J.T. Cooper is going tornado chasing in Oklahoma for the first time.
This film explores how two people, from very different cultures, indulge in their passion in two very different ways.
Shot on location in Leicestershire, UK, and in the mid-west of the US, I was interested in the kinds of people who study the weather for a hobby , and to make a character-driven film which would communicate what drives them and their passion.
The film has been shown in schools, showing children the fun side of meteorology.
The documentary was shot on HDV, filming entirely on my own, during the spring of 2010.
I spent a day with Dave, and two weeks with JT, as he and his co-chaser Lisa drove all over the mid-west in search of the elusive tornadoes.
Many thanks for Dave and JT for not only being great on camera, but also being great fun and extremely accommodating!
